 I love to be part of treasuries that others make.  Especially wedding treasuries.  It's like getting to be part of a wedding without having to do any of the actual work or have any of the actual stress!

Tuesday Treasury - Farmgirl Fancy

I often wish I lived on a farm.  I tried growing veggies one year with some success (although the next year was a disaster) and have even thought about chickens or angora bunnies.  MaryJane Butters has a fantastic book all about her world in Moscow, Idaho that makes farm life look incredibly romantic.  But alas, I live in the city and trade off great coffee within walking distance for rolling prairies.  Plus farming is a lot of work.  My mom has told me enough stories about waking up at 5 AM to tend animals before school to know I wouldn't last a month.

So I shall live through the eyes of other Etsyians and create treasuries in honor of my farm life fantasies.

Tuesday Treasury! Blue Blue Christmas

I know it's still early, but I'm excited!  I listened to Christmas music on the radio all yesterday morning.  Keeps me motivated to craft!  Love it!

Here is a treasury with a vintage feel.  When I was shopping St. Vincent De Paul yesterday (where they have a whole second floor devoted to Christmas decorations!!!) I came across a bunch of pretty blue mercury glass ornaments.  I guess that's what inspired this...

Tuesday Treasury!

*hack* *hack* *cough* *cough*

Obviously, I have a cold.  A monster cold and a fever.  Right before I have all the big crafty craft shows (dates at the bottom of this post.  Not this actual post, but the underlined aforementioned "this post.")  Fingers crossed it's done by Friday!  If not, I'll be armed with some DayQuil...

Tuesday is Treasury Day (I've just decided)

I'm addicted to treasury-making on Etsy.  Much like my blog-envy problem, treasury-making involves coveting others creative genius and ability to produce wonderful items.  Seeing as how Etsy just hooked up with HGTV (Feelings? Thoughts?), treasury-making has become even MORE exciting and competitive to be featured on the front page.  But that's not why I do it (although it would be awesome.)  I love to browse Etsy, in fact I spend way too much time doing so, but it gives me so much inspiration and delight to see the beautiful things my fellow artists are making.

Here is my latest treasury:

Dark and Stormy

Beautiful items!  Give it a try - it's fun!  My theme was "Dark and Stormy."  I picked the most eye catching items that came up in searches for keywords like "dark," "cloudy," "rainy," "storm," etc. that suited my desire to focus on dark gray, silver and a hint of red.  I rearranged them in the treasury until I was satisfied, tagged it with keywords, and clicked publish.

The sellers were sent a message, some posted about it on their blogs or in item descriptions.  I find it's a great way to connect with other sellers and maybe even get a few new shop hearts.  But mostly, it's just fun to shop and collect without ever having to spend a dime (would if I could!!!)

What an exciting week!

Here I was thinking I would get some time off to rest and relax before the big holiday rush.  Nope!  The best news is that I was featured on the front page of Etsy last night!

I had been so busy during the day, I was doing a late night daily check on my Etsy shop.  I pulled up the home page and there she was!  My gorgeous friend Teresa wearing my Fall Harvest Fascinator.  It made my day.  It's nice to see that my efforts are being noticed and the hard work is starting to pay off after these many months.  Over 1400 hits that day and 19 new shop hearts.  Wowser.

I tend to think Etsy has a formula, and once you figure out how to play the game, you can have great success.  I'm still learning all the ins and outs of the formula, but feel I have the basic necessary components to have a great shop.  I love my shop, I love what I make and Etsy has been a great resource for me getting a business started.  Even with the thousands of other sellers, many of them selling the same type of product, I feel like I get a chance to stand out and shine from time to time, like when I'm included on a great treasury, or even on the front page!  That's a very rewarding feeling!

I have been gearing up for a wine tasting event/trunk show this Friday the 8th at Azarra Salon & Wine in Downtown Tacoma from 5-7:30.  Come see me, drink some wine, shop for a new a purse, some jewelry or a fascinator!  What more could a girl want on a Friday night?

I am pleased to announce that I have very low stock right now, and need to kill myself this week to make as many new fascinators as I can, because they're selling like hotcakes!  Stay tuned and my Etsy store should have some new stock in next week.

Or if you can't wait and you can't make it to the event on Friday, visit Orange on Sixth in Tacoma where you can find Deeds and Petunia fascinators, vintage button bobby pins, corsages, and dish towels!  You really should visit this store anyway.  Laurel the owner is completely adorable, along with everything she sells!  Some super great items here, so you need to check it out.

Lastly, I had the honor of being part of the Tacoma All-Star Backup Choir at the Columbia City Theater this past weekend at the Best of The New Showcase.  My wonderful and talented friends Luke Stevens and Holly Campbell, and Kirsten Wenlock of Elk & Boar performed, and asked me to sing along on a song during each of their sets.  Kirsten and Holly looked amazing in their D&P fascinators!!!  Ironically, I forgot mine in the car!  It was a magical evening and so many talented musicians.  Thanks guys for making me feel so special and share your wonderful talented spotlight for a brief moment!  Pictures to come.
