I Heart NY

I had the most fabulous journey across the country last week to the big apple.  My amazing and generous friend Erin graciously offered me her air miles to fly out and visit her in Manhattan.  I was there a week later (a big thank you to my husband for playing single parent while I was there!!!)

This is my second visit to New York, but this time I fell in love.  Erin lives in an apartment overlooking Central Park, which was in full bloom during my visit.  The air was warm, so were the people.  It's a huge place with thousands of faces, but still somehow manages to feel intimate and welcoming.

Central Park was the highlight of my trip.  It's a beautiful park.

I also enjoyed people watching and observing how they live in such a densely populated area.  There were little pops of color everywhere.

I really really wished I had more time to spend in the Village.  We heard some great music, had some amazing Indian (eggplant curry...  MMMMMMM.) and there were so many shops that I wanted to pop into, (but alas, will have to stop in on my next visit.)

Erin's beautiful baby boy is only 4 and a half months old.  He was lovely and cuddly and all smiles.  She's such a great mom.

I can't wait to go back!  I used to travel a ton BC (before children), and have caught the bug once again.  Might need to get a second job...

Glamor Shoot Highlights...

My favorite creative gal pal Rose invited me to join her for a glamor photo shoot last week.  Her friend Tori, and very talented musician and classic beauty, was having photos taken, and I had a great time helping to style and set up the shoot.  Such a fun and creative day had by all!

The best part was the fact that the photo shoot was right in Rose's lovely back yard.  It was fantastic shooting into the night and watching Rosie work!  The lovely ladies Tara, Holly and Janelle helped out with hair and makeup.  Much chatting ensued and we killed a few hunks of delicious cheese!

I feel so lucky to have such a wonderful creative community to be part of!  More of the finished (and amazing) photos can be found here on Rose's blog.

Ryan & Tyler's Wedding - Part 2

My two favorite elements (besides the bride and groom,) were the dress and the invite.

Tyler's dress was simple and stunning - a strapless gown with sweetheart neckline by Claire Pettibone featuring a silk tulle skirt and fine cotton lace details.

So let's go back to the beginning for a sec... all this wonderfulness started the day we received the handmade invite.  So clever.  These two love the ocean and their theme included Northwest coastal colors and elements including sea glass colors, drift wood and burlap.

So pretty.

The vibe was casual and fun on this day and all the guests were clearly having a great time.  Here are a few more photos from the wedding...

Lucky duck Ryan even got a vintage mandolin from his groomsmen as a wedding gift!  Something to serenade the lovely Tyler on their honeymoon, no doubt.  ;)

Makes me want to get married all over again!!!

Ryan & Tyler's Wedding - Part 1

I had the pleasure of attending one of the loveliest weddings I've ever been to last weekend.  My husband's nephew Ryan and his lovely bride Tyler were married in Kelso, Washington at a private location overlooking the city.  All of the handmade details were stunning.  Lots of vintage glass, elements of nature and personal touches everywhere. The ceremony and reception were casual, intimate and perfect.  Here are a few photos from the event.  I'll follow up in another post (so many pictures!) in a day or two.

These two are a match made in heaven.  Congrats Ryan and Tyler!  I wish you a life full of happiness together.
